Computer literacy can be defined as the knowledge and ability a person has to use computers and technology efficiently.
Technology Alliance Group (TAG) helps people achieve computer literacy by providing free access to computers and the Internet. We have qualified staff available to aid with computer and technology related questions as well as provide computer training.
TAG services the technology needs of youth at risk, seniors, low-income families, and other individuals facing barriers. The issue is no longer simply getting people online–it is meeting the needs of those Canadians who are already marginalized and for whom the barriers to technology become increasingly difficult. Technology literacy represents to our consumers the basic cost of entry for an education, employment and access to government.
TAG’s Computer Literacy Goals
- To raise the level of knowledge about technology and to increase the number of competent computer users within the community.
- To provide computer training which allows all people within the community the ability to participate in the computerized Information Society.
- To create a higher level of computer literacy within the community by helping users with limited abilities to evolve into adaptive users embracing new technology independently.
- To increase the community’s ability to communicate, educate and use a diverse range of new technologies.
- To provide new educational tools to meet varying student’s needs to learn more effectively.
